In May, the employees of the department of science and the department of protection of the SNNP monitored the condition of watering holes and pastures of kulans and gazelles, as well as the hydro mode in the mountain rivers of the national park.

In conditions of increasing water scarcity and summer droughts due to lack of water or low productivity of pastures, reproduction of kulans and gazelles may deteriorate, and animals themselves can migrate outside the park. Surveys showed good water debit in watering holes feeding on groundwater (springs in tracts and foothills), a decrease in debit was noted for mountain rivers with snow supply, due to a small snow reserve in the mountains.
